If you ask a Christian, “How do you know God loves you?” chances are they’ll quote John 3:16 almost immediately:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…”
And honestly, that’s a powerful truth. There’s no greater love than sacrificing your own Son to save someone else.
But if we stop there, we might still walk away wondering:
“Okay, but how do I know God loves me? Personally? Deeply? Right now?”
It’s Not Just About What He Saved You From—It’s What He’s Inviting You Into
If we only view God’s love in terms of what we narrowly escaped (hell, judgment, pain), we can still be left with questions. It might even feel transactional—like God “bailed us out” but doesn’t necessarily delight in us.
But real love isn’t just about rescue.
It’s about relationship.
God didn’t just spare you from punishment—He’s offering Himself. His nearness, His presence, His heart.
Not Comfort, but Connection
If God’s love were measured by how easy your life is, Paul (the apostle) must’ve been hated. But of course, we know better.
Shipwrecked. Beaten. Jailed. Chained.
And yet, God loved Paul deeply.
Why? Because in the middle of Paul’s hardest moments, God showed up. Over and over again.
He gave Paul strength, comfort, peace, and joy that didn’t make sense under the circumstances (see Acts 16).
The clearest proof of God’s love is not always what He removes from your life—but how He reveals Himself in it.
Not Just a Sacrifice—A Share in His Glory
Yes, Jesus died for you. That alone is more love than we can grasp.
But He didn’t stop there. He rose again so you could live with Him—starting now, not just in eternity.
He wants to be known by you. To fill your heart with joy that’s better than comfort, peace that outlasts problems, and a glory that doesn’t fade.
“Because of His great love for us… God made us alive with Christ…” – Ephesians 2:4-5
Love is giving someone what they need the most when they deserve it the least. That’s exactly what God has done for you.
The Bottom Line: God Loves You. Right Now. As You Are.
Not just because He saved you.
Not because you’re perfect.
But because you are His—and He wants to share everything He is with you.
Let this truth settle deep into your bones today:
“How priceless is Your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of Your wings… You give them drink from Your river of delights.” – Psalm 36:7-8
God’s love is real. It’s vast. And yes, it’s yours.
