Can Believers in Jesus Christ Celebrate Halloween?

For many Christians, the question “Should we participate in Halloween?” brings layers of reflection. The holiday has roots that mix sacred and secular, spooky and joyful, cultural and spiritual. On one hand, Halloween originates from the vigil of All Saints’ Day — a Christian day of remembrance and honor. On the other hand, modern celebrations often emphasize costumes, the supernatural, and activities that may feel at odds with Christian convictions.

Yet, for believers in Jesus Christ, there is room for thoughtful participation. One approach is to view Halloween not as a celebration of darkness, but rather as an opportunity to reflect on the light of Christ in the world. Scriptures remind us that Christ is the light over all and that believers need not fear.
