Making Wise Choices: 6 Biblical Lessons for Teens

Life as a teenager is full of important decisions. From friendships and school choices to personal values, the decisions you make today can shape your future. 1. Seek God First – Solomon’s Request (1 Kings 3:5-14)

When God told Solomon he could ask for anything, Solomon didn’t choose wealth or fame. He asked for wisdom. God was so pleased with his choice that He gave Solomon wisdom, plus wealth and honor. The lesson? Start by seeking God’s guidance in prayer before making decisions. Ask for wisdom, just like Solomon did.

2. Think Before You Act – The Story of Esau (Genesis 25:29-34)

Esau traded his birthright for a simple bowl of stew. In the moment, he acted on impulse and gave up something very valuable for short-term satisfaction. This teaches teens to pause and think long-term before making quick decisions, especially when emotions are high.

3. Choose Good Friends – Proverbs 13:20

The Bible says, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” The friends you choose influence your actions and character. Surround yourself with people who encourage you to make good choices and live according to your values.
